While supplementing leucine works for muscle growth, it’s not effective if you’re looking for HMB because the conversion rate is too low.
Pure HMB, however, is prized for its anti-catabolic properties, as well as having a lipolytic effect . And because of this, it’s often used in the fitness world to enhance physical performance and boost skeletal muscle hypertrophy.
If that’s not enough, HMB also helps to decrease plasma markers of muscle damage, decrease protein degradation (i.e. muscle breakdown), reduce the inflammatory response, and attenuate muscle damage and resulting post-exercise soreness [4, 5].
Cayenne Pepper Extract (Capsimax)

1. Excessive stimulants (i.e. high caffeine content)
